News: Heien Lab has paper accepted into Analytical Chemistry

Richard F. Vreeland, Nicholas D. Laude, Sean Lambert, and Dr. Michael L. Heien have published  a new peer-reviewed publication. The publication outlines a new technique our lab has developed to etch thin films of conductive polymers for the fabrication of microelectrodes. This technique is an alternative to reactive ion etching, and offers similar capability while only costing the user about $100 (for a microwave from Home Depot) and is entirely benchtop. The microwave etch is used to fabricate a microchip electrophoresis platform where neurotransmitters are separated and detected. The sensor is characterized and compared to more common materials like carbon. Congratulations!

News: Heien Lab has paper accepted into Analytical Chemistry

Christopher W. Atcherley, Nicholas D. Laude, Katherine L. Parent, and Dr. Michael L. Heien have published  a new peer-reviewed publication. The publication outlines a new technique our lab has developed to measure the tonic or “basal” concentration of dopamine in vivo. The technique exploits the strong adsorption interaction between dopamine and carbon fiber microelectrodes. Characterization and optimization of the technique is described. Congratulations!

News: Heien Lab has paper accepted into Analytical Chemistry

Christopher W. Atcherley, Richard F. Vreeland, Esther Sanchez-Gomez, Dr. Eric B. Monroe  and Dr. Michael L. Heien have published  a new peer-reviewed publication. The publication outlines the utility of  a zero-phase filter for fast scan cyclic voltammetry experiments to  avoid traditional filtering artifacts, as well as the filter’s utility in filtering amperometric data from PC12 cell exocytosis. The authors are also sharing their program on this website, in the software section. Congratulations!

News: Heien Lab has paper accepted into Analytical Chemistry

Dr. Eric B. Monroe  and Dr. Michael L. Heien have published  a new peer-reviewed publication. The publication outlines the development of a novel method of electrochemically labeling proteins to probe solution-phase protein structure and dynamics. The authors are the first to demonstrate the technique, and the method is vastly less expensive than alternative methods. Congratulations!
